Keeping on top of your personal finances can feel like a real chore sometimes, but there are easy ways to simplify your finances. Have a read through these top tips and see if any of these things will help you to simplify your finances and get on top of things!
- Switch to paperless
If you’re still getting paper bills and statements through the post then it’s time to make a change. Not only is going paperless great for the planet, it’s also a good start when you want to simplify your finances. Having bits of paper filed away (or stuffed into drawers) isn’t particularly practical and if you ever need to search for a specific statement, it can take ages to find what you need. By switching to paperless bills and statements, you are ensuring that you’ve got everything you need in one place, either in your online banking account, or sent to your email. Either way, searching for things is much easier!

- Consolidate your bank accounts
There are many reasons why you might have accumulated multiple bank accounts over the years, but ask yourself if you really need them all. Personal finance becomes much easier when you only have one account to deal with. If you really need to have multiple bank accounts, then see if you can have them all supplied with the same bank.
- Only use one credit card
This one isn’t for everyone, but if you have a few different credit cards, see if you can cut it down to just the one. The fewer accounts you have, the less you’ll have to keep track of, and with credit cards, that means you’ll have fewer interest payments to manage too. Multiple credit cards come with multiple repayment dates, interest rates, and account information to keep track off, making your personal finances more complicated than they need to be!
